Electric scooters include an IP rating in their description, such as IP54 or IP65, indicating their ability to withstand harsh weather and environments.
IP stands for Ingress Protection Rating. It indicates the device’s ability to resist the entry of pollutants, dust, and water into its interior. The first number after IP denotes dust resistance, and the second number indicates moisture and water resistance. The scale ranges from 1-9, with higher numbers indicating stronger protection.
Here’s a general guide to the environments suitable for scooter use based on IP ratings:
IPX4 - Suitable for driving on damp grounds, in mist, or light rain.
IPX5 - Can be driven in light rain, continuous rainfall, and puddles.
IP34 - Can be driven in areas with slight dust, uneven roads, or damp surfaces.
IP54 - Occasionally off-road capable; suitable for wetlands, mist, and light rain.
IP55 - Occasionally off-road capable; can be driven in puddles, light rain, and continuous rainfall.
IP65 - Off-road ready; suitable for puddles, light rain, and continuous rainfall.
IP67 - Can be driven on most terrains; withstands continuous heavy rain, downpours, and even short-term submersion in water.
Most X-HOOK scooters sold have water and dust resistance ratings, which can be found in the product descriptions.
When introducing new brands or models, we commonly evaluate certain characteristics:
Whether they have water and dust resistance to increase product durability.
Whether they use aluminum alloy frames, which are strong, lightweight, and rust-resistant.
Although most of our products are water and dust resistant, we advise against prolonged exposure to sunlight or rain, as long-term conditions like these could damage the vehicle’s waterproof seals.
